Stage 4
I purchased this motor on ebay. Right now I have it in my 350z with 5 cells and it goes just under 20mph. I do not know anything about the insides of this motor. I paid $25 for it. It is pricey but does perform well on my RCP track.

I purchased this motor from PerformanceXmods.com for $6.95. It is worth every penny and then some. Right now I have it in my stock Civic and it tops out at 13 mph. Don’t be fooled it gets to top end speed in a hurry and gives my 20mph 350z all it can handle while racing on my track. I have no info about the insides of this motor.
UPDATE. I put this my Skyline with 6 cells at it hit 17mph with a lot of power. For the longer cars this is a great motor! |

IWaver motors
I purchased this on eBay for $11. At First everything seemed ok ..on my speed checker with 10 tooth 6-cell it topped out at 29mph. Not bad for a motor that bragged it spin at 60K rpm. When I put it on my track it was slower than dirt! After a little research I found out that the armature was only wound 20 turns with I think 26 gauge wire. It is not meant to push xmods big gears. Lesson learned and besides the can and neo magnets are worth the 11 bucks. |

Speedologist’s Redline 130
from eBay.
Ok I fixed my 9 amp Supra, added lithium batteries and slapped in the Redline. It performed well on the speed checker running at 32 mph. I will try to get it on the street soon.
Well I got it on the ground and found it to be an good motor all around. Had speed and power like advertised. Good Job Speedologist. |

Tamiya Torque-Tuned
Sorry for the awful Pic! I just won 10 of these on eBay for $4.00. Got to love eBay. At 14.26 mph on 4 cells I have to say these are a decent motor. That is with a 11t blue gear. I tweaked the motor a bit (changed the weak stock brushes and used the brushes from one of my stage 1 motors)…. 17.36 mph with a 10 tooth and 21.7 mph with 5 cells. Not to mention that it takes off like a jet plane.
UPDATE: Added Carbon Brushes and the result was 19 mph at 4 cells with 11 tooth blue gear and 25 mph in my 5 cell 350z. As far as basement track racing this tweaked motor is the way to go!
Update #2 I put this in my 4wd Skyline at 6 cells and it hit 27 mph (with carbon brushes). Still no fet upgrade needed. *3/28/05* I tested this with lithium batteries and in hit 32 mph. |

Mini-z Xspeed
Not to be fooled this is not made by IWaver. I have this motor in my Ford Focus Mini-z. It is basically the same as a RS stage 2. 49turns of 30 gauge. I got it free when I bought my Mini-z.
I took this out of my Mini-z and put into my 6 Cell civic. With a 10 tooth gear/pinion it went 21 mph on stock radio shack batteries. It also had plenty of torque. I think it performs even better than a Spinbrush Stage 2. I think I am going to leave it in for awhile. |

Plasma Dash
by Tamiya
Out of the box this motor has a great top end. It hit 28.9 mph on my 6 cell supra which has a carbon shaft, bearings, and 9 amp fets as far as upgrades. I put it on my track and was a little disappointed with its acceleration. I was unable to hit top end speed. Still it was better then the IWaver Pro. So took out the armature and put it in the Pro can which has NEO magnets and ball bearings. This is what you call the plasmatomic I saw an improvement but still this motor is more for large tracks and outdoors. I sold the plasmatomic on ebay and was told with Lithiums and V2.2 board it hit 63 KPH or 39 MPH with a great amount of torque!
Addition**
I added new info on the Plasma Dash. As you can see the Stock Plasma actually spins faster then the hybrid. I think the NEO mags in the hybrid slow it down alittle but add much needed torque. Still it’s a cool motor. Also the stock motor refused to go any faster with more volts. 6.0 seems to be all it will handle. I tested it 3 times.
**4/6/05** I put the Plasmatomic in my 9 amp lithium setup and got it up to 37 mph. On the floor it kept fishtailing. To much power to put on cement floor without 4WD! |

The Juggernaut
This motor has the speed of a 130 and the torque of an 180, made with high grade bearings (yes, a 180 with bearings) highly conductive carbon brushes. As Advertised this motor was quick and powerful. In my 6 cell supra with 11 tooth gear it hit 27 mph and got there in a hurry! On my track I was very happy with it’s performance and will be watching ebay for its brother “the HULK”. This motor does require a FET upgrade. |

Atomic-Tuned
by Tamiya
Ok I put this in my 4wd 6cell Skyline (used the carbon-brush version) and it got up to 44 kph or 27mph with a 11 tooth gear. Again not bad for a motor that costs 6 bucks to make. I then drove it on my track at 4cells and found it was an ok ride. My Favorite is still the Torque–Tuned with carbon Brushes.
**3/28/05** I put this motor in my Skyline with 4WD and lithium batteries and it went 54 kph or 33.48 mph. On the street it flew. |

Hyper-Dash 2
by Tamiya
Well I put the tweaked version in my Supra last night and at 4 cells it went 23 mph… at 6 cells 30 mph! Not bad for a motor that in total cost me 6 bucks. After the speed test I put it on my track. I only used 4 cells. The Hyper tweaked performed well with power and speed. I am beginning to like these Tamiya motors! This motor does require a fet upgrade to use as you can figure by my no load amp chart.
**4/6/05**
Ok I took the armature out of the hyper-dash and put in a Ball Bearing case with carbon brushes and Neo Mags. The result was a motor that hit 33mph in my lithium Supra and enough power to warrant you getting 4WD. |

Power Dash
by Tamiya
As you can probably tell by now I like Tamiya Motors. This one seems to be the first other that the Plasma that comes stock with good brushes. They looked like copper. I switched them for some carbons and put it in my 6 cell Supra. The result was 29 mph on the speed checker. On my track it was nice… had good acceleration. I think they use Ferrite Mags in this one because it had more punch than the others. Still on my small track it could not reach top speed. My track is only 15 X 10. It also ran alittle cooler than the Hyper dash. Also it did not really benefit from the extra cell. So what have we learned here. If you want a cheap upgradeable motor. For larger tracks and outside than I would hit eBay and try some of the Tamiya motors. This one cost me 7 buck with shipping and 3 for the carbon brushes. |

GPM 180
Well it was a learning experience. I saw this on EBay and thought I would see how it was considering my other 180 experiences were good. Not this time First it cost $13 plus shipping. Next it is slow ...I mean stage 1 slow. One would think High-speed and the fact it is made for RS4’s which I think are even bigger cars that this would fly. It went 19 MPH with the lithium setup. Do me a favor don’t waste your money on this one! |
